PRIVACY POLICY
LAST UPDATED · SEPTEMBER 13, 2026
The short version. This is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no contact form, no database and no user accounts. Nothing you do here is recorded or profiled by me.
The only ways information reaches me are the standard access logs my web host keeps, and an email — if you choose to send one.
Who We Are
This privacy policy describes how Russell Benzing, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with russellbenzing.com (the "Site"). The Site is operated from the United States.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
The Site has no contact form and no sign-up of any kind. If you email the address published on the Site, we receive whatever you choose to put in that message — typically your name, your email address and the content of your message. That is entirely voluntary.
Server Access Logs
Like virtually every website, our web host records a standard access log entry when a page or file is requested. A typical entry contains:
- Your IP address
- The date and time of the request
- The file or page requested
- Your browser's user-agent string and, where sent, the referring page
These logs are generated and retained by the hosting provider for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. They are not used to build a profile of you, and they are not combined with any other information.
Browser Storage
The Site does not use cookies. It writes a single value to your browser's sessionStorage to remember that a one-time animation has already played, so it is not repeated during your visit. That value contains no personal information, never leaves your browser, and is discarded when you close the tab.
Cookies And Tracking
We set no cookies. We run no analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixels, no session recording and no fingerprinting. There is nothing here to opt out of, because there is no tracking to begin with.
The ZING Assistant
The Site includes a small assistant called ZING. It runs entirely in your browser and matches what you type against a fixed set of pre-written answers stored in the page's own JavaScript. Nothing you type into it is transmitted to us, to a server, or to any AI service, and nothing is saved after you leave the page.
Third-Party Services
The Site loads a small number of resources from third parties. When your browser requests these, that third party necessarily receives your IP address and user-agent as part of the request:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — used to load the typefaces the Site is set in. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- YouTube — a hidden easter egg on the Site can embed a single video. It uses the youtube-nocookie.com privacy-enhanced domain, and the embed loads only if you trigger it. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We have no advertising relationships.
How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Respond to email you send us
- Keep the Site online, secure and free of abuse
- Diagnose technical problems
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights
How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose information only in these circumstances:
- Hosting provider: our web host processes access logs on our behalf in order to serve the Site.
- Legal compliance: if required by law, subpoena, court order or other legal process, or to protect our rights, property or safety.
- Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer to the acquiring entity.
Please remember that ordinary email is not a secure medium. Do not send sensitive information by email.
Security
The Site is served exclusively over HTTPS, sends a strict Content Security Policy and standard hardening headers, and stores no user data on the server — there is no database and no login to compromise. That said, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
- Email: retained for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any follow-up, then deleted.
- Server access logs: retained by the hosting provider on its own standard rotation, typically a matter of weeks.
- Browser storage: the single sessionStorage value is cleared by your browser when the tab closes. You can clear it yourself at any time.
Your Rights And Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Because we hold so little — in most cases nothing beyond an email you chose to send — these requests are usually simple to satisfy. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to request its deletion; to correct inaccurate information; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have. To exercise any of these rights, contact us below.
Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International Users
The Site is operated in the United States and hosted there. If you access it from elsewhere, be aware that any information transmitted is processed in the United States, whose data protection laws may differ from those of your country.
Third-Party Links
The Site links to external websites — GitHub, LinkedIn, SoundCloud, YouTube, Suno and others — that we do not operate. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read the policy of any site you visit.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry-standard response to it, and the Site does no tracking in the first place, so no special handling is required.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top. Your continued use of the Site after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
